Elton A. Bruner was born September 16, 1924 in Minden, LA, and went home to be with his Lord on June 21, 2012. He moved to McDade, Louisiana (now Elm Grove) at the age of 2 and graduated from Haughton High School. He was a WWII veteran, serving as a crew chief and gunner in A-20 and A-26 aircraft. He was assigned to the Pacific forces in Okinawa and later was part of the mainland Japan occupation forces. After the war he attended Louisiana State University and entered the work force as a watchmaker. He soon transitioned to the oilfield business where he retired from Dresser Industries and moved back to the family homestead in 1983.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Atkins Lodge for 65 years. He was the oldest and longest time member of Atkins Lodge and had been awarded the Fidelity Medal for his faithful service. He first served as Master at the end of June 1946. He later served as a Shriner for over 50 years, possessing an enduring love for the purpose of the Shrine hospital and young children.

Elton was a member and deacon of Koran Baptist Church, where his parents were charter members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Preston, and Ruth L. Brunson Bruner, brothers Clifton, William and Wallace Bruner, sister Jewel Parkerson, and his wife of 42 years, Louise Gamble Bruner.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Anita Bertaut Bruner, daughter Marcia Good and her husband John; sons, Robert E Bruner and his wife Gale, Ricky E. Bruner and his wife Carolyn; grandchildren, Michelle Good, Joshua Good, Elizabeth Bruner, Katherine Bruner, Julie Barnes and her husband Juan, Jay Williams and his wife Brandi; great grandchildren, Colton Williams, Dixie Williams and Jaxson Barnes; Stepsons Kerry Faciane and his wife Barbara, Michael Faciane and Marie.

Services will be on Tuesday, June 26 at Koran Baptist Church at 2pm.and will be officiated by Brother George Rodgers. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Hill Crest Chapel Monday, June 25 from 5-7 p.m. Pall bearers will be the Brethren of Atkins Lodge no. 266 F. & A. M.
