The third oldest child of John and Edith (Amick) Truman was born January 3, 1927 at Bristow. She died Monday, Nov. 16 at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln at the age of sixty five years, ten months and thirteen days.
She attended school at Bristow and then attended Wayne State College. She taught for one year at a rural Plattsmouth school and then moved to Center to teach. It was there that she met her husband Dwight McGill, whom she married March 30, 1947. Later they moved to a farm and she quit teaching. They were the parents of three sons. She worked as jailer and dispatcher for the Knox County Sheriff's Department and later became secretary in the sheriff's department. She retired in October 1991.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Creighton and was an organist, a pianist and choir member in the church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and sewing for her family.
She is survived by her husband; sons and their spouses, John and Nancy McGill of Bakersfield, CA, Robert and Jan McGill of O'Neill and Keith and Laurie McGill of Seward; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Lindhorst and Kathryn Starkey, both of Council Bluffs, IA.; two brothers, Bill Truman of Hampton, VA and Delwyn Truman of O'Neill and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
