On Wednesday June 20, 2012 John Lowell Austin passed away peacefully surrounded by family returning home to heaven to join his parents and siblings after a brave fight from many heath complications.

Born September 27,1942 in American Fork Utah to Frank Carlyle and Louise Hamnett Austin.

He grew up in Alpine and graduated from American Fork High school in 1960. He worked many trades but spent most of his years at Geneva Steel working for Heckett Engineering.

He was married to Shirley Colleen Bullock on November 9, 1962 in the Manti LDS Temple. They raised their five children in Alpine Utah and were later divorced in June of 1996.

Lowell loved the outdoors immensely. He loved to go camping, take long drives and fishing with his brothers. He loved spending time with his family. He especially loved being with his grand kids. Lowell could always be found sitting in the driveway feeding his birds, waving at everyone that passed by. Lowell had the greatest sense of humor and was so witty and charming. Anyone who met him fell in love with his personality, big heart and his beautiful blue eyes.

He had spent the last eight years with his sweetheart and best friend, Jenifer Barney. They spent countless hours playing cards with her parents, going on trips together, tinkering in their yards and spending time up American Fork Canyon.

We want to thank Jenifer for being by his side and being a pillar of strength for us as a family and for helping Dad find peace on his journey home.

Dad, we will never forget the joy and love you brought into our lives. We will miss you and your big happy smile. We love you, "Be careful" as you would always say.

Survived by his children, Shirell (Randy) Patton, John (Annie) Austin, Travis (Karin) Austin, Jeffery (Jill) Austin, Chyron (Mike) Madsen. Twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Siblings, Carlene (Jay) Wilson, James Lionell (Vicki) Austin, Diane (Ron) Smith, Donna (Learl) Healey, MarDee (Glenda) Austin, Frank (Eddie) Austin. Proceeded in death by his parents Frank Carlyle and Louise Austin. Siblings, Thayne Shorty' Austin, Al Austin, Phyllis Austin.

Thank you to Utah Valley Hospital nursing staff and doctors who took care of Lowell during his stay there. Thank you 'Ellie May' for your kindness, love and support.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm, in the Alpine City Cemetery, 350 North Grove Drive, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home located at 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah.
