Funeral services were conducted at Hengstler's Chapel Saturday, May 29 for Austin Baldwin, 74, who died Wednesday, May 26 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital, following a lingering illness. The Rev. Eugene Beye officiated. Pallbearers were Leonard Wortman, Fritz Haskin, Alfred Beckman, Milton Myers, Carl J. Ganz and Jim Becker.
Austin H. Baldwin was born to Mr. and Mrs. Austin H. Baldwin Sr. June 7, 1901 at Gray, Ia. In 1909 he moved with his family to West Point and in 1911 to a farm near Creighton. He attended rural schools at West Point and Creighton.
On Nov. 3, 1924 he married Jessie LaBranch at Tyndall, S.D. Five sons were born to them. He farmed in the Winnetoon-Center community and in the fall of 1973 he retired and moved into Creighton.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Arthur of Houston, Tex., Kenneth of Sioux City, Ia., Roland of Denver, Colo., Allen of Winnetoon and Russell of Creighton; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Baldwin of Sacramento, Calif. , George Baldwin of Los Angeles and two sisters, Mrs. Wm. (Mabel) Meiers of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Ben (Mattie) Stetson of Houston, Mo.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
