D.A. Avery Dead at Age of 72

As a result of an affliction of the heart, D.A. Avery died at his home north of Creighton, Saturday, November 3.

Daniel Austin Avery was born November 21, 1851 in Preston, New London, County, Conn., where he lived his boyhood on his father's farm.

He was married in 1873 to Eunice Bromley and together they moved to the homestead farm near Creighton in 1877, where they have continuously resided for a period of over forty five years.

The deceased is survived by the widow and four children; Mrs. G.R. Rich of St. Joseph, Mo., Mrs. M. O. Cheney of Los Angeles, Calif., Henry A. and Willis L at home.

Daniel Austin Avery for a period of forty five years in the community was regarded as an industrious and frugal man and one who bore the respects and cherished the true friendship of his every acquaintance.

During his residence of more than forty five years in the community, he passed through many trying ordeals and endured even more than the ordinary tribulations of the hardy pioneer, yet during the entire period he valiantly, courageously, yet without ostentation, plodded along the path of honor and righteousness and harmed no man by word of deed and thereby wove for himself laurels of esteem in the hearts of this fellowmen. In his home life he was a good, kind husband and loving father.

While the deceased was content in his well appointed home and fraternized but little he maintained membership in the Modern Woodmen organization for a period of thirty years.

By application to the pursuit of building for himself and family a lifetime home, the splendid farm north of town with its complement of suitable and appropriate structures remain as monumental evidence to thrift--the thrift of a united family, who centralized their lives in a home of satisfaction.

Daniel Austin Avery will be missed from the community, nor is it probable that yet another will ever enter the community and occupy a niche of identity and obtain in essentials the handiwork this man has wrought in a lifetime.

Let the final tribute to this man be written. "He done well."

Condolences are extended by friends to those bereaved.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 today (Thursday) from the M.E. Church, conducted by Rev. Farner. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
