Christian Andersen

Christian Andersen, a highly respected farmer of this community, passed away at the Methodist hospital in Omaha on Saturday morning at 2:30. Death came eight days following a surgical operation for tumor of the bladder. His many friends were astounded to learn of his sudden passing, as he had not been ill long.

The deceased was born in Rakkeby, Denmark on April 7, 1887 and died on June 30, 1934, at the age of 47 years, 2 months and 23 days.

On November 2, 1897, he with his parents emigrated to America and settled at Fremont, Nebr. A few years later the family moved to Creighton.

Mr. Andersen was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Nielsen of Perth Amboy, N.J. on December 5, 1910 at the Baptist parsonage in Omaha, Twenty-one years ago they established a home on a farm southeast of Creighton, where the family has since lived. Mr. and Mrs. Andersen were the parents of three sons, one dying in infancy. Those living are Marvin Christian, 11 years and Francis Dale, 7 years.

Besides his wife and two children, Mr. Andersen leaves to mourn, his stepfather, mother and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jens Jensen and daughter, Molly of Literal, Minn. and a brother, John Andersen of Veining, Minn.

At the age of 15 years, Mr. Andersen found Jesus as his Savior and united with the Baptist church of Creighton and had been a faithful member until death.

It can be said that Mr. Andersen was respected during his lifetime because he commanded such respect by refraining from injuring his fellow men by word and deed. His departure from our midst will be mourned by a multitude of friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2:30 from the Federated church, with the pastor, Rev. D.E. Ramseyer officiating. A male quartet consisting of the three Clough brothers and Rev. Ramseyer sang comforting songs. A number of friends contributed floral offerings in mute tribute to the memory of a departed friend. The remains were laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery.

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family who will greatly miss the guiding influence of a provident husband and father.
