Married Temperence Jones on 12 Mar 1822 in South Carolina. He is the son of James T. Loveless and Linna Hughes. He is buried next to his wife.

Judge Richard D. Winn began in 1871 writing biographical sketches about some of Gwinnett County most distinguished citizens. In 1873 he wrote one such sketch about Levi Loveless.

LEVI LOVELESS

It is with pain that we announce the death of this estimable man who passed on the 24th instant in the 74th year of his age. He had been in feeble health for several years: and although he was able to go about transacting his ordinary business, yet death did not come upon him unexpectedly. It has been but a few months since he was in our office, and though appeared cheerful, he evidently felt that he had about finished his labors. He talked of his approaching death with a calmness that indicated a strong faith in his safety beyond the grave.

Mr. Loveless was born in South Carolina, but had been a citizen of this county for many years. He filled for a long time the office of judge of the Inferior Court and was several times elected to the state legislature. In 1850 he was one of the representatives from this county in the celebrated convention of that year.

For many years, and up to his death, he was a minister in high standing in the Baptist church. Of him it may be truly said that, although Providence had lengthened out his days to a ripe old age, he had not an enemy. With a kind heart and a liberality beyond his means, he went about doing good.

He was quiet and unobtrusive in his manner, gentle and kind in his disposition, but always to be found on the side of morality, whether as a citizen, judge of the Inferior Court, or member of the legislature. He leaves a spotless character and a bright example to these who come after him. Peace to his ashes. [source: "History of Gwinnett County Georgia 1818-1943, Vol. I" by J.C.
