John B. Bennett mustered into service on June 4, 1861, at Corinth, Mississippi, for 12 months. He was in the hospital at Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 1861. He died of fever at Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond, Virginia, on May 18, 1863.
Company K became Company L and then Company A, 6th Regiment, Alabama Infantry.
