Demetra Faye Daggett, age 78, of Williamsville, MO passed away June 13, 2012, at Poplar Bluff, Regional Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, MO. She was born on July 26, 1933 to the late Oscar Bazzell and the late Rubye (Hampton) Bazzell, in Carthage, MO. As a young girl she was baptized into the Baptist faith by her grandfather. Demetra attended a one room school at Malden, MO. As a young child her family moved around a lot. On September 3, 1955 she was united in marriage to John Newman Daggett, who preceded her in death on August 27, 2007. She was a house wife and homemaker until 1975 when she and John purchased the Pleasant Valley Restaurant and ran it until 1987. Then she and John enjoyed going to steam engine shows. She really enjoyed quilting, and all types of hand sewing. Demetra loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Demetra is survived by one son, Roger (Kay) Daggett, of Poplar Bluff, MO; one daughter, Lathersa "Thersa" (Robert) Longhibler, of Poplar Bluff, MO; one brother, Ted (Diane) Bazzell, of Wappapello, MO; one sister, Tina Talley, of Perryville, MO; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Demetra was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Del D. Daggett; three brothers, Oscar Bazzell, Tommy Jay Bazzell and Charles Bazzell; one sister, Judy Collins.
A visitation was held on Saturday, June 16, 2012, beginning at 5:00 p.m. for the family, with friends and neighbors joining them at 6:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Ruegg Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville, MO. Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 17, 2012, also at the funeral home chapel in Greenville, MO, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Proctor officiated the ceremonies. Pallbearers were Dan Payne, Joe Payne, Michael Longhibler, Johnny Brown, Chuck Bazzell, Roger Daggett. Interment was at Montgomery Cemetery, Silva, MO.
