F. Peter Grubbs, 75, of Mentone, died a 6 a.m. Tuesday in the Alfran Nursing home following a long illness due to a heart ailment and complications. Born in Kosciusko county Sept. 8, 1880, the son of Jesse and Hannah(Romaine) Grubbs, he accompanied his family to Kansas when he was seven years old and resided in that state for 30 years before returning to this community. A retired farmer, he formerly worked on the Manwaring poultry farms. Surviving are six sons; Harvey and George, of Warsaw, Harry, of Gary, Jesse, of Knox, Leslie of Mentone, and Max, who is stationed in Norfolk, Va. naval base; four daughters, Mrs Fern Holbrook, Columbia City, Mrs Bernice Merica, Warsaw, Mrs Fawn Holloway, Mentone and Mrs. Dollie Baxter, Gary; three brothers, John and Orla, Mentone and Jack, of Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. John Emmons, Warsaw, Mrs. Stella Lott, Oregon and Mrs Etta Lowe, Kansas; 36 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The Reed Funeral home at Mentone is in charge of funeral arrangements which are incomplete pending word from the son in the navy.

Correct name is Peter Frederick Grubbs; he is my great grandfather.
