Yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, brief funeral services were conducted in the chapel of the Grand Island Undertaking rooms, by Rev. L. L. Lipe, over the remains of Mrs. Martina Appledorn Thompson, who died in Denver the 8th, after a painful illness of nine months duration. Deceased was born in Germany on November 12, 1852, and came to this country at the age of five with her parents, who first settled in Wisconsin and ten years later removed to Grand Island. In May, the 23rd, 1884, she was wedded to Mr. August Thompson. The young people lived in Grand Island a few years and then located in Denver where they resided continuously until the wife's death. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two sons and one daughter, two grandchildren, two sisters and a brother. Her father died a year ago last January and her mother in April following. The burial was in Grand Island cemetery.

The remains of Mrs. August Thompson arrived in the city this noon from Denver, accompanied by the husband and one daughter. The funeral will take place at two o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Grand Island Undertaking Co. parlors. Mr. Appeton (sic), a brother, was unable to come.
