Past Benton mayor dies
BENTON, Wis. — Services for John F. "Steiner" Meloy, 93, of Benton will be held at 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church here. Burial will be In the church cemetery. Friends may call at the miner-O'Flahrity and Siegert Funeral Home at Benton, where the parish and Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary will be said at 8 pm. Friday.
Mr. Meloy, who died Wednesday morning at Lafayette Manor at Darlington, Wis., was preceded by his first wife. the former Lucy Nash. He was a former mayor of Benton for more than 20 years. a member of the Lafayette County Board for 10 years. charter member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, past president of St. Patrick's Cemetery Association and a partner in the Meloy-Baker Mining Co. until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret A. Temple; three daughters. Mrs. J.L. (Lucy) Walkup of Flagstaff, Ariz., Mrs. J.C. (Mary) Fleming of Milwaukee, Wis.. and Mrs. Bill (Loretta) Brewer of Anaheim, Calif.; 12 grandchildren. and five great-grandchildren.
