Mrs. William Almire
Mrs. Virginia Mitchell Almire, an aged woman of the Penicks neighborhood, died at her home Wednesday morning of last week. She was a native of Bedford county, was the widow of the late William Almire, and was a consistent member of the Methodist church. Surviving are the following children: Samuel Almire, of Thaxton; Miss Emma Almire, Howard Almire and Mrs. Lawrence Kirkwood, of Penicks. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. E. I. Lewis, Rev. C. M. Roberson, and Rev. S. M. Query, were held at the home Thursday afternoon and burial was in the family cemetery. Active pallbearers were Isaac Rose, John Kirkwood, Brownie Folden, Minter Kirkwood, Walter Folden and Christopher Carter. Honorary pallbearers were Messrs. Reeves Bowyer, Robert Taylor, Charles Morgan, Henry Moseley, Robert Overstreet and Edward Williamson. The floral tributes were borne by Ella, William and Radford (data missing) Almire. Bessie (article cut off).∼The Almire's are the parents of Mrs Edith Kirkwood now deceased. The graves are on private property that was originally owned by them, it also contains original cabins 150 years old.
