John Alexander, who has resided in this township for over 60 years, died on last Thursday morning in the 83rd year of his age. He had been in poor health for some years past and for a year or so had been confined to his bed almost constantly.
Some 15 years ago he was afflicted with cancer on his upper lip and after spending considerable time and money with doctors he finally succeeded in curing it himself. He raised a family of 3 sons and 4 daughters, 2 of the former are at home single, also one daughter's son and daughter in the west.
His was the first death occurring in the family.
He was buried at Monroeville on Friday.
Rev. Freshwater of Salineville, officiating at the funeral.
Mrs. Alexander, one year his senior, has been confined to her bed for some time past, the 2 requiring the constant attentions of one of the boys.
The family has the sympathy of all in their affliction.
