Mr. Woods, better known as PawPaw, was born Nov. 30, 1934, in Carroll County to the late James Thomas Woods and the late Louella Godfrey Woods. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Helen Woods Campbell; son, Warren Keith Woods; great-grandson, Campbell Jude Cole; and two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Woods worked in the banking industry for 35 years. For much of that time he was with Farmers and Merchant Bank in Fayetteville. After retiring from banking, he and his children became independent contractors for Airborne Express.
Mr. Woods enjoyed fishing, ball games, horse shows and his family. In recent years, he particularly enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball and compete in horse shows.
A funeral was held Tuesday, June 19 at Moody Funeral Home in Zebulon, with the Revs. Fred Blackmon and Billy Smith officiating. Burial was in the old Hebron Cemetery, Concord.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Faye Henry Woods; daughter, Nancy Sims (Randy); sons, Kevin Woods (Denise) and Jason Woods (Sandra); daughter-in-law, Jenene Woods Craig; grandchildren, Sarah Fay Campbell, Jonathan Campbell (Amber), Melinda Cole (Joe), Kate Sims, Mary Mae Sims, Andy Sims, Justin Woods, Kristen Woods Craig, Stephanie Sutherland (Ethan), Austin Woods (Kayla), Kayla Woods, and Zackary Woods; great-grandchildren, Ryan Cole, Ira Aagesen, Jona Campbell, Kora Campbell, Luca Campbell, and Audrey Lee Moncus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
