Brad Gary Asplund, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandpa and friend, passed from this life February 19, 2010.
Born August 12, 1956 in Murray, Utah to Gary C. Asplund and Betty Jean Bess Asplund (later divorced). Betty Jean married Vaughn Barker and united their families.
Brad was Head Professional at Fore Lakes Golf Course for over 30 years. He created the Junior Golf Programs and took special interest in teaching the handicapped how to play golf. He gave many lessons to many people. Brad was very well respected in the golf community, not only here in Taylorsville, but throughout the state of Utah. Vaughn and Todd Barker, along with Brad, owned and operated Fore Lakes Golf Course.
Preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jo; daughters, Tazia (Steve), and Bradli Jo; son Jason (Shelby) from his first marriage; one granddaughter, Bentli Jo and sister Pam Harmer (Gary); stepbrothers and sisters, Susan, Vaunalee (Seth), Robyn (Tom), Todd (Shauna), Nancy (Clarence), Bryan (Diana), and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Brad's life will be held Thursday, February 25, 2010, 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Anyone who wishes to share thoughts or memories of Brad is encouraged to speak from 7-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Brad's family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity in Brad's name and pay it forward as he always did. May he be at peace.
