Dorothy H. Harder, age 66, of Oak Harbor, OH died Tuesday, September 19, 2000, at the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo after a lengthy illness. Dorothy was born June 22, 1934, in Fremont, OH to Robert F. and Isadora M. (Pratt) Thayer. On September 15, 1952, she married Max J. Harder, and he survives. Dorothy was a mother, homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, where she was very active. She was a former church school superintendent, sang in the choir, served on various church committees, and helped to start the Care Committee. Through her church, Dorothy received the Exceptional Lay Person award in 1970. She was also a 30 year volunteer for the American Red Cross. Years ago Dorothy was also a cub scouts' den mother.
Her survivors include her husband, Max; sons, Max "Tim" (Pat) Harder of Verona, VA, Doug Harder and Tom (Diane) Harder, both of Oak Harbor, and Ted (Cheri) Harder of Elmore, OH; daughter, Teresa (John) Lewis of Genoa, OH; grandchildren, Billy Harder, Jennifer Harder, Corey and Tiffany Harder, Sara and Mary Lewis, and Katie Mehlow; brothers, Rodney "Pudge" (Sue) Thayer of Destin, FL, and Donal Thayer of Palmetto, FL; and sister, Mary (Darrell) Floro of Oak Harbor. Her parents preceded her in death.
