MRS. ELLA DAVIS MCBATH, prominent and pioneer citizen of Toccoa, passed away at her home on East Doyle Street, shortly after midnight Monday. Mrs. McBath's death came after a lingering illness. She was 82 years of age.
Mrs. McBath was born April 14, 1866, in Pendleton, SC, and was the daughter of the late David alexander Davis and the late Mary McCay Davis. She taught school in the Georgia School System for over 35 years, several of which she spent teaching in the Toccoa Public Schools. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Toccoa and was a faithful and loyal member of the church as long as her health permitted. The beautiful and profuse floral offerings evidenced the high esteem in which she was held.
She is survived by 4 step children, Miss Ruth McBath, Mr. Ralph McBath and Mrs. W. C. McBath of Toccoa, and J. B. McBath of Bradenton, FL.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Acree-Davis Funeral Home chapel with Rev. S. D. Cherry and Rev. John Ellis officiating. Interment was in the family plot at Confidence Methodist Church Cemetery.
