He was born September 17, 1923 in Martinsville, IL, the son of Clifford Bryan Lowry and Clara Mabel Blankenbeker Lowry. On May 25, 1946, he married Betty Lou Lamb in Missouri. She passed away on February 11, 2004.
Joe was a retired Illinois Department of Transportation employee, where he worked on road maintenance. He was a US Army WWII veteran and a member of the Martinsville American Legion. Joe was a member of the Martinsville Masonic Lodge and had previously served as past Grand Master. He was known for putting out a big garden, competing with his neighbors and friends.
Survivors include daughter, Jean Elliott; daughter, Janet Lowry; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Lowry; son, Randy Lowry; brother, Bob and sisters, Claudia Edwards and Freda Carpenter.
Funeral services were held at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Brother Randy Black officiating.
Burial followed in the City Cemetery, Martinsville, IL.
