HENRY COUNTY WEEKLEY, June 21, 1907: An aged Mother Breathes Her Last: Mrs. Mary Ann Tarpley died at the home of her son, Mr. J.O.Tart ley on last Fri morning at 7:30 o'clock after an ilness of only 4 days. She was the widow of the late Coleman Tarpley who preceded her to the Great Beyond about 20 years ago. She was in her 84th yr. Before her marriage she was a Miss Farris. From early life she was devoted & consecrated follower of the blessed Christ & from early life was a consistent member of the Meth. Church. She is survived by 2 sons, J.O. & W.D. Tarpley of this place. The funeral & interment were at the Akin Burying Ground about 5 mi West of here on Sat, Rev. E.S. Atkinson officiating in a beautiful & impressive manner.
