Anna Mae Cales, 76 of Sandstone, passed away at 7:36 p.m. Thursday January 4, 2007 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 5, 1930 at Meadow Creek, she was the daughter of the late Arthur & Rufina Plumley Smith.
Ms. Cales was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was a lifelong resident of Summers County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren H. Cales in 2000. Also preceded by a daughter, Shirley Ann Cales in 2004. Three brothers, Theo, Clyde & Roy Smith. One son-in-law, Tim Fredeking.
Survivors include three daughters, Diana Willey & Beverly Fredeking, both of Sandstone and Debra L. Harvey of Hinton. One brother, Forest Smith of Hinton. Three sisters, Mary Ellen Richmond of Grandview, Imogene Gwinn & husband Jack of Meadow Bridge and Margaret Bragg of Meadow Creek. Three grandchildren, Dr. Kimberly Gwinn of North Carolina, Jennifer Price Dickens of Hinton and David A. Harvey of Hinton. Twin great grandchildren, Chloe & Drew Dickens. Several nieces & nephews also survive. Adopted by love, Rhoda & Angie Gwinn and Sharon Richards Pannell. Grand-kitty, Ashley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 9, 2007 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Bill Ballengee officiating.
Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be; Tom Scott, Chuck Richmond, Jeff Accord, Christian Dickens, Michael Newman, David Harvey & Jim Price. Honorary pallbearers will be; David Thompson, Marlowe Pannell, Bobby Kelly, Lee Pivont, Ray Pivont & Terry Payne
