"Enlisted at Pownalborough, Maine, and was second lieutenant, Capt. John Decker, Jr's. company, first Lincoln company, regiment of Massachusetts militia. Commissioned July 1, 1776. Also second lieutenant, Col. Samuel McCobb's regiment. Lived at Wiscasset and North Anson. Was a brother of William, Ebenezer and Samuel Hilton, all Revolutionary soldiers. A headstone has been placed at the grave of Lieut. Hilton by Ruth Heald Cragin Chapter."
