Merlene loved sewing, crocheting, genealogy and calligraphy. She was an avid reader and "news junkie". As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she enjoyed serving in many ward and stake callings. She was an active and energetic 100 year old, living in her own home.

She adored her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She even remembered all of their birthdays.
