In 1945, he graduated from high school and joined the Merchant Marines and was assigned to the Lib-erty Ship. After an honorable discharge from the United States Army, he moved to Bainbridge, Ga., and was partner in the International Harvester business.
On June 25, 1960, he married Billie Whitesell. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1961. He was a Boy Scout leader and coached little league and softball teams in the R.L. Turner League. He was an avid sports fan and gardener. He was retired as the parts manager for Cook Whitehead Ford, where he was employed for 27 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Nettie Dunton; daughter, Pamela Conley Culver; son-in-law, Terry Culver; and brother, James L. Conley.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
