Charlotte W. Gilbert, 95, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center. Mrs. Gilbert was born April 12, 1917 at Clay County, the daughter of John and Eleanor (Martin) Fowles. Charlotte graduated from CCCHS in 1934 and she married Charles Gilbert on October 2, 1943 in Pampa, Texas. They lived on a farm in the Green community until retiring to Clay Center in 1977. Charles preceded her in death on June 7, 1979. She was a member of the Clay Center First Baptist Church, Green E.H.U. and the Clay County Election Board. She attended the Hayes United Methodist Church.
Charlotte was also preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Ronald and wife, Pat Gilbert and Gary Gilbert, all of Clay Center; two daughters, Dharla and husband Bob Kice of Wichita and Eleanor and husband, Charlie Sharp of Salina; two brothers, Orrin and wife Wanda Fowles and Wilbur and wife, Pat Fowles, all of Clay Center.
