SOUTH YARMOUTH — Gertrude (Homer) Henderson, 89, of South Yarmouth, passed away June 12, 2011.

She was the beloved mother of James L. Henderson and his wife, Sugar, of Brewster, and Loretta and her husband Donald Conklin of West Yarmouth.

Mrs. Henderson was born in Yarmouth, the daughter of Maude (White) and Oscar Homer. She attended Yarmouth High School.

During the 1960s, she owned the Kum-On-In, a variety and take-out store in Dennisport. She also owned the South Yarmouth Laundromat and Gert's Restaurant in South Yarmouth. She was the first woman school bus driver for the town of Yarmouth where she drove for 31 years from 1957-1988. She also delivered newspapers for the Cape Cod Times.

In addition to her son and daughter, she is survived by eight grandchildren, Dean, Bob, Jimmy, John, Jerry, Jason, Jessica and Jennel; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, in Pine Grove Cemetery, South Yarmouth.
