Lucille was born on Feb. 16, 1926, at Omaha, the daughter of Frank Henry and Blanche V. (Wells) Buffington.
Lucille was united in marriage to James F. Newlon on June 15, 1952, in Omaha. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1995.
Lucille is survived by: daughter, Cindy Thomason of Lincoln, NE.; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Maura Jean Newlon of Palmer, NE., Tom Newlon of House Springs, MO. and Jeff Newlon of Lincoln, NE.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Lucille grew up in Omaha where she received her education and graduated from Benson High School. She then worked as a dental assistant in Omaha.
After her marriage to James they lived in Omaha before moving to the Palmer area where they farmed until 1959 when they moved to St. Paul.
She worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunitions Plant in Grand Island.
In the early 1970's she went to work at the Gamble's Store in St. Paul where she worked until her retirement.
She continued to live in St. Paul until 2010, when she moved to Lincoln to live with her daughter.
Lucille was a member of the St. Paul Women's Bowling League for many years.
Lucille enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing BINGO, baking, sewing and gardening. She loved to go for drives and spending time with her grandchildren
In addition to husband, she was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Melvin and George Buffington; and sisters, Louetta Millen and Margaret Crosby.
Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Palmer, NE.
