PLENTYWOOD - Services for Orlando E. Bruvold will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Plentywood Lutheran Church with Pastor Barry Fritts officiating. Interment of a portion of his cremated remains, with military honors, will be in Plentywood Memorial Cemetery; the remainder will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Orlando was a World War II veteran of both the European and Pacific theaters. He retired from a long career as an electronics design technician with Honeywell Corporation's defense and avionics divisions in Minneapolis that included designing and building equipment for the space program. A Comertown native, he returned to Sheridan County after the death of his first wife, Pearl, and married his lifelong friend Edna (Negaard) Hovland, who was widowed from Morris Hovland in 1980.

Orlando and Edna were married for 28 years and they enjoyed traveling, especially to South Padre Island, Texas. They were often seen walking around town hand in hand and they enjoyed the company of Edna's son and his family and daily breakfasts at Randy's Restaurant with friends. Orlando died at Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home on Jan. 2, 2012.

Besides his wife, Edna, Orlando is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Jean (William) Snoke of Lakeville, Minn.; and by a stepson, Milton Hovland (Shirley) of Plentywood; grandson, Brent (Reina) and their children, Heather, Jessica, Brian Hovland, and Brent's stepson, Jeffrey (Kayla) Stanley and their children, Joseph and James, all of South Dakota; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl; sister, Elsie; brothers, Chet and Kenneth; and granddaughter, Melanee Hovland.
