Mrs. Evie Lena Shrum of Lafayette, died at the age of 99 on Friday morning, January 18, 2008 at Macon County General Hospital.

Funeral services for Evie Lena Shrum were conducted by Elder Floyd Ferguson and Elder Walter Andrews from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, January 20, at 2:00 p.m. Hayden and Holden Shrum served as honorary pallbearers. Gary Cox, Terry Gann, Rick Gann, Mark Shrum, David Shrum, and Derrick Gann served as active pallbearers. Burial followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Born Evie Lena Johns in Sumner County, Tennessee on September 9, 1908, she was one of ten children of the late George and Edna (Gregory) Johns. In 1927 she was married to Elmer Hayden Shrum, who preceded her in death. Besides her parents and husband; son, J.T. Shrum, daughter, Polly Gann, brothers, Jack, Benton, Raymond, James"Jimmy" and Willie Johns, sisters, Cozy Lawson, Mary Sullivan, Myrtle Ragland, Fannie O'Neal, and Clemmie Durham preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker, a loving mother of three children, and was a member of the Cedar Bluff Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by; daughter, Helen Jenkins of Goodlettsville TN., seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
