John Vermeer
John L. Vermeer, 75; of Loveland, Colorado, formerly of Montevideo, Minnesota, died April 13 at Delta County Memorial Hospital in Delta, Colorado.
Funeral services were at Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo on Thursday, with burial at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in rural Montevideo.
He was born in Sioux Center on April 15, 1914, the son of Henry and Johanna Vermeer. He attended school in Iowa, and on February 9, 1938, he married Ada Punt in Sioux Center. They farmed for many years, moving in 1952 to Montevideo. In 1989, they moved to Loveland, Colorado.
He was active in his church and was a member of Gideon's Club International.
He is survived by his wife, Ada; three sons, Wayne of Sioux Center, Roger of Fort Collins, Colorado, and
Bernard of Sacred Heart, Minnesota; four daughters, Frances Zylstra and Rita Gerdes, both of Loveland, Betty Vermeer of Montevideo and Brenda Belsom of Lomita, California: three brothers, Elmer and Gerald, both of Sioux Center, and Kenneth of Buena Park, California; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
