Nettie was born in Seven Valleys, on August 19, 1929, and was the daughter of the late William Kessler and Mary (Miller) Kessler.
She was a lifetime member of Zion (Shaffer's) United Lutheran Church in Seven Valleys; where she taught for many years in the Primary Department of the Sunday School and would also help with sub sandwich sales. Nettie also enjoyed crocheting Doilies and Afghans as well as gardening and home canning. She had a very deep faith and cherished the time she spent with her family.
In addition to her husband Clair, she is survived by her loving children, Dianne Sands and husband, Rodger of Dover, Lester A. Markle of Spring Grove, Betsy Roth and husband, David of Spring Grove; her grandchildren, Kevin Sands and Suzanne Hoffman and husband, Brent and her great-granddaughters, Ellie and Clara Hoffman. She is also survived by her sisters, Anna Mummert of York and Ethel Beck of Seven Valleys; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and close friends.
She was predeceased by her sister, Eva Sweitzer; and her brother, Walter Kessler.
A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held June 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Zion (Shaffer's) United Lutheran Church, Codorus Township, with the Rev. J. Thomas Shelley officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover.
