Born September 2, 1937 at Hinton he was the son of the late Oscar and Estella Adkins.
A former employee of B&L Lumber Company, he loved the outdoors, children and spending time with his friends and family.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Corbit, Blaine and Willard Adkins.
Survived by one daughter, April Adkins of PA; one brother, Zina Adkins and wife Mary of Upland; three sisters, Hallie Adkins of Hinton, Jennie Cook of Jumping Branch and Eva Cook of Pipestem.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday December 29, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Rodes officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday.
