Tabby Jo "Heffie" Nelson, 18, of Franklin Furnace passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Portsmouth native was born May 13, 1988, the daughter of Ernest Nelson of Greenup, Ky., and Eva Shope Nelson of Franklin Furnace.

She also was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Elmer "Bootneck" Shope and Occie Peterson Shope; and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Annie Belford Nelson.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include two sisters, Tonda Nelson of Greenup and Tammy Nelson of Franklin Furnace; one brother, Toby Nelson of Greenup; a half-brother, Tony Shope of Idaho; two special friends, Angel Scott and Jim Hamilton, both of Franklin Furnace; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Minister Rick Mollett officiating. Burial will be in Haverhill Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
