Former Consul general for the Republics of Guatemala, Salvador and Honduras. In 1878 he was appointed Charge d'Affaires for Honduras at Washington. During a revolution in Honduras several years ago Baiz was instrumental in preventing the steamer City of Mexico from leaving the port of New york with arms and munitions of war for the insurgents. For this service he was made a Brigadier General of the Honduran Army.
