Prudence Houske, 91, Halstad, died Monday Feb. 5, 1996, at the Lutheran Memorial Home, Halstad, where she had lived since 1990.

Lynette Prudence Merrian Houske was born March 18, 1904, the daughter of Peter and Marie (Bangen) Houske, in Halstad. She was baptized and confirmed at the Halstad Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended school in Halstad graduating as valedictorian of her class. She then attended Moorhead State Teachers College where she received her teaching degree. She worked as a teacher in elementary schools in Bismarck and Climax, Minn., and various towns in Minnesota for 42 years before retiring.

Prudence loved to travel and has traveled to all fifty states. She was a member of the Halstad Luther Church and its circle. She also enjoyed playing cards, watching TV, reading and spending time with Katie, the Halstad Lutheran Memorial Home dog.

She is survived by one niece, Diane Hernandez. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Irwin and Herbert.

Services:2 p.m. Thursday in Lutheran Memorial Home Chapel, Halstad. Visitation:One hour before services in the home. Burial:Halstad North Cemetery.
