Rites At Concord For Mrs. Locke
Funeral services for Mrs. America Denton Locke, 91, one of the county's oldest residents, will be conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Concord Baptist Church. Elder Ed Christopher of Athens, Ala., and Allen Phy, minister of Central Church of Christ, will officiate and burial will be in Concord cemetery. High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Locke, a lifelong resident of Warren county, died Wednesday morning at 1:55 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ida Perry, on Colville street. She had been in failing health for several years and critically ill for a week. Born September 12, 1861, Mrs. Locke was a daughter of Ozias Denton and Sarah Medley Denton and she was married in 1879 to W. C. Locke. He died March 13, 1939. Mrs. Locke, a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, had made her home with Mrs. Perry since the death of her husband. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by five sons, Frank, Bob, Jack, and A. O. Locke, McMinnville, and Virgil Locke, Campaign; two daughters, Mrs. A. S. Allen and Mrs. Haston Martin, McMinnville, and two sisters Mrs. Jerry Webb, Warren county, and Mrs. Sallie Sanders, Columbus, Ga.
