Potsdam- Funeral services for 78 year old Betty Mitchell Cox of Churchville, and formerly of Potsdam, will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam with Rev. Kenneth Pell Pastor of the Potsdam Church of the Nazarene officiating with Gary Jones co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Sanfordville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Mrs. Cox died Sunday June 17th at Unity Hospital in Rochester.

Survivors include two sons Phillip Stanley Cox of Taberg, NY, Wayne Charles Cox of Massena, a daughter Beth Anne Benner of Round Hill VA, and seven grandchildren Katherine Cox, Zachary Cox, Tracy Cox, Laura Beth Benner, Danielle Cox, Nicholas Cox, and Mikayla Benner.
Five brothers Lawrence Mitchell of Potsdam, James Mitchell of Norwood, Kenneth Mitchell of Waddington, Mark Mitchell of Halifax, MA, Ronald Mitchell of Canton, and five sisters Doris Hunt of Potsdam, Letha Chase of Potsdam, Ann MacAdam of Sacramento, CA, Kay Ramsay of Potsdam, and Carolyn Mitchell of Madrid, also survive. Betty was pre-deceased by two sons Daniel William Cox and Daryl Edward Cox.

Betty was born in the Town of Stockholm, NY on March 19, 1934 the daughter of Harold Webster and Lena Doris (Munson) Mitchell. She graduated from Potsdam High School and worked for the EE and CC Greene Lumber Mill in Sanfordville for many years as a bookkeeper. She later worked for the Martin's Maple Street Service Station as a bookkeeper.

Betty was a member of the Potsdam Church of the Nazarene. If friends desire memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene in her memory. Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
