Obit summary; Samuel E. Lilley, 67, of Connellsville R.D. 1, died Thursday morning at his home after nine-month long illness. Born November 24, 1880, son of late Frank and Sarah Stillwagon Lilley, on a farm near present home. Resided his entire life, young man employed as a coal miner at Moyer by the former W.J. Rainey interest.
For 25 years a fire warden for the Pleasant Valley dist. and later a farmer. Married twice (1) Anna Shaffer Lilley, died in 1926 and (2) Mary B.
Surviving, his widow Mary B Lilley; his stepmother Mrs Allie Lilley; eight children from former marriage, Norman, John, Charles, Albert, Andrew, Mrs. Sarah Stillwagon, Mrs. Goldie Keefer, all of Connellsville and Mrs. Jennie Firestone of Normalville; 48 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Francis and Norman Lilley of Connellsville R.D. 2 and Grover Lilley of Cleveland, Ohio; four half-brothers, Charles Lilley of Cleveland, Braden Lilley of Connellsville, Ernest Lilley of West Newton and Walter Lilley of Rochester, Pa.; five half-sisters, Mrs. Bertha Nicholson, Mrs. Catherine Goswick and Mrs. Auretta Shearer of Connellsville R.D. 1, Mrs. Daisy Nicholson of Lemont and Mrs. Sadie Herbert of Uniontown.
Services Sunday afternoon, burial in Mount Olive Cemetery.
A joint funeral service will be held for John H. Stillwagon of Pleasant Valley, who died Thursday morning, an uncle of Samuel Lilley, at the Mount Olive Church. Joint burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
