WOLCOTT — Joel G. Martin, 73, of Wolcott, beloved husband of Beverly (Billings) Martin, passed away on Saturday, June, 16, 2012, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury.

Joel was born in Frenchville, Maine, on June 9, 1939, and was a son of the late Benoit and Marie (Michaud) Martin. He was a longtime Wolcott resident and along with his wife owned and operated J G Martin Trucking Inc. Joel was a member of St. Pius Church in Wolcott, enjoyed wood carving, and working in his flower garden.

Besides his wife, Bev, Joel is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Danny Martin of Canada; two stepsons, William and Phillip Gavin; three brothers, Roderick, James and Gerald Martin; a sister, Joan Martin; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two stepsons, James and Michael Gavin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 22, 2012, 11 a.m. at St. Pius Church, 517 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Burial will follow in Woodtick Cemetery, Wolcott. Relatives and friends may call at the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Thursday, June 21, 2012, between 4 and 8 p.m.
