Mr. Philip C Wachter, 73, of 14046 Hoovers Mill Road, Rocky Ridge, died Saturday, Sept 14 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

He was the husband of Helen Crone Wachter.

Born at Harmony Grove, Mr. Wachter was a son of the late Millard R. and Jenie Irene Rice Wachter.

Mr. Wachter served with the U.S. Army in Europe for 5 years during World War II.

He had been employed for more than 25 years by the U.S. government at Fort Detrick, and retired in 1981 from Litton Bionetics.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Wayne Philip Wachter Sr. of Rocky Ridge; one grandson, Wayne Philip Wachter Jr. of Rocky Ridge; six brothers, Thomas Eugene Wachter, Edward D. Wachter, Frank H. Wachter and Robert Wachter, all of Frederick, Charles Wachter of Keymar and Calvin Wachter of Charlesville; to sisters, Louise Chipley of Frederick and Jennie May Dodson of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 in Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Carroll A. Doggett Jr., a minister of the United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
