Billy Wayne Hickman Billy Wayne Hickman passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in Austin, Texas. He was born in Austin, Texas on October 3, 1931 to parents Black Moore and Elva Hickman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jean Hickman Rather and sister Peggy Hickman Wright. Bill married his Austin High School sweetheart, Dodie Adams Hickman in 1951 before serving in the U.S. Navy (Korean War). In the early years of their marriage Bill would work three jobs at once to support his family so his wife could stay home and raise their four children. He worked many years for the Texas State Highway Department before forming his own family business, Hickman Plumbing Co. Bill and Dodie, along with their three sons and dedicated employees (whom he also considered family) enjoyed many successful years in his family business. He was an honest and hard-working man. Bill is survived by his wife Dodie, daughter Vicki Hearne and husband Joseph, sons Mike Hickman and wife Glenda, Steve Hickman and wife Brenda and Scott Hickman; grandchildren - Michael and wife Betty, Chance and wife Anna, Dodie, Haley and husband Ash, Brad, Zach, Ryan and Sean; and great grandchildren - Sophia, Zoey, Parker and a new great grandson expected in early June, as well as his beloved dog Max. He also leaves behind many good friends whom he loved, including those at VFW Post 8787. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and good friend. He was strong and determined, could fix anything and never gave up until the job was done to his satisfaction. He loved to have his large family around him and often said he wished they all could live under one roof with him and his wife! Bill loved to make people laugh and enjoyed a lifetime of sharing his zest for life with anyone who came to know him. Until we meet again one day, we will surely miss him. We love you Daddy (Papa)! Funeral Services will be at 11:00, Friday, May 18, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 500 Immanuel Road, Pflugerville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or VFW Post 8787.
