Obituary in Allentown Morning Call, Thurs., 5 Mar. 1903, pg. 4:
Washington DeLong, of Wescosville, who was taken ill with grip on Friday of last week, died yesterday at 9 a.m., aged 40 years. He resided in the tenant house of Owen W. Bastian and was the hired man of Clinton T. Bastian. He is survived by his wife Aquilla (nee Fagly)[Fegley?] and seven children, five daughters and two sons, ranging in age from 2 to 18 years. They are: Mamie, of Allentown; Ella, with David H. Gilbert, of the East Wescosville Hotel; Minnie, Mabel, Norway [Naomah?], Howard and Clarence, at home. Funeral on Monday at 9 a.m at the house. Burial and services at Longswamp Church, Rev. Nevin Helfrich officiating. [Note: 1880 Longswamp, Berks census shows that Washington was the son of Daniel and Kate DeLong; do not have exact birthdate, but the obit suggests either 1862 or 1863; Washington (age 36) and Acquilla (age 32) are listed on 1900 E. Texas, Lehigh county, Pa. census, and it shows Washington's birthdate as Feb. 1864 and Acquilla as July 1867. Children listed are: Minnie (Nov. 1892), Howard J. (May 1894), Clarence (Dec. 1895) and Mabel (Mar. 1898).]. There is a Mamie (13) listed on 1900 Upper Macungie, Lehigh Co. census, working as a servant, who was born in June 1886.
