Married Lucina Katherine Heacock October 17, 1861. She was born March 5, 1842 in Salem, Ohio, and died October 28, 1874 in Salem, Ohio.
Children: Clifford Glacus, Cora Mabel, Walter Alfred.

Taken from the Coy Family Book by Ethel Bush Packey: George Washington Coy has this story related about his famous name. It seems his birth had been anticipated all day on the 22nd of February with plans to name him after the Father of Our Country. He did not, however, put in his appearance until sometime after midnight (on the 23rd), but the family named him George Washington anyhow.

....
George W. and Kate L. (Heacock) Coy were both born near Salem and the former died there in 1906, having spent practically all his life in that one locality except the three years he was away doing the duty of a soldier in the Civil war. He was a member of Company B of the 104th Ohio Infantry, and was a corporal. His wife died at Salem in 1874 and after her death he left the farm and for some years followed the profession of photographer. After that he filled such offices as town marshal, assessor and other positions. He was a man of high principles, enjoyed much esteem in his community, but was not ambitious for a fortune and led the rather easy going existence so familiar among people in small villages. There were three children in the family: Clifford G. of Phoenix, Arizona; Cora M. wife of W. B. Cope of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and Walter A. the youngest who was only five and a half years of age when his mother died. The children all grew up at Salem and received their early education advantages there.
