RUBY ALMA GAUMER: Aged 13years-9mos-22days; was born near Woodruff KS on 25 Jun 1902 & died 17 Apr 1916; death was caused from meningitis, after an illness of 4 weeks. Her father died when she was about 4 years old & when she was 10 years of age her mother moved to Cottonwood Falls with her 5 children. With her twin sister-Reba, she had finished the graded school work & at the time of her death they were members of the freshman class of the Chase County High School. Ruby was a member of the ME Church & a loyal Sunday School & Epworth League worker. She will be greatly missed from the home & by all of her host of friends. Bright & sunny tempered, keen of intellect & earnest & faithful as a christian, her short life made a profound impression upon all who knew her. She was a beautiful flower taken from earth & transplanted in the garden of God. The funeral was held in the ME Church conducted by her pastor, RevJE Bryan & was attended by all the high school teachers & students besides a host of friends. Many beautiful floral offerings were given by relatives & friends. Her body was laid to rest in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.
