Funeral services for Ole A. Rustad, who had passed away at his home in Faribault on Monday evening, March 23, were held at the Bethel Lutheran church, Thursday afternoon, March 16, at 2 p. m., with the Rev. Arthur Nyhus, pastor, officiating. A brief service for the family was held at the Parker Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Interment was in the Kenyon cemetery. Pallbearers were William Martin, Carl Norlin, Carlyle Simonson, Ned Langeness, Howard Barrett, all of Faribault, and Daryl Houger of Nerstrand. At the family services, Miss Ruth Nyhus sang "Abide With Me" and "Good Night and Good Morning" accompanied by Mrs. Carl Norlin. At the church services, Mrs. Howard Barrett sang two selections: "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Mrs. Carl Norlin, and "My Home Sweet Home," accompanying herself on the harp. Ole A. Rustad was born January 28,1866, at Asdalen, Norway. He came to this country in 1884 and took up residence in Cannon Falls. He worked for a time in the vicinity of Aspelund and was united in marriage to Miss Adeline Sparstad in Faribault in 1894. To this union were born six children. The deceased lived for a time in Faribault and then began farming in the Wanamingo and Kenyon area. In 1922 he retired from farming and moved back to Faribault, where he continued to reside. Mr. Rustad was preceded in death by three of his children, Andrew in infancy, Cora in 1916, and Carl in 1935. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Adeline Rustad; three sons, Adolph of Owatonna, Rudolph of Faribault, and Orwin of Northfield; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Iverson, Faribault, Mrs. O. I. Rustad, Canby, and Mrs. Carrie Sparstad, Detroit Lakes. Relatives and friends attending the services from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Estrem, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sparstad, Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Sparstad, Mr. and Mrs. John Stenhaug, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fundenet, all of Dennison; Iver Rustad and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ohnstad, all of Cannon Falls; Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Sparstad, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Helland, and Lars Helland, all of Kenyon; Dr. A. M. Holmquist, Mrs. Helen Jacobson, and Thea Ellingboe, all of Northfield. Others attending the service from away were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Willing and Miss Elaine Rustad of Owatonna; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bennerote and Mr. and Mrs. John Giesler, all of West Concord; Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Moe, Wanamingo; and Mrs. Kenneth Nordsletten and Stanley Rustad, both of Minneapolis.
