Emil E. Stokes, 73, of Menasha Ave., Manitowoc, died early Monday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after a lingering illness.
Funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Gervase Zanotti will officiate and burial will be in Branch Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 27, 1885, at Kellnersville, son of the late Frank and Katherine Duchac Stokes. He married the former Cammila Shimek at Branch June 14, 1910, and the couple farmed in Branch until moving to the present farm on Menasha Avenue.
He was a member of the Gold Star Fathers.
Surviving are his wife, son, Frank of Manitowoc; daughter, Mrs. Paul Herrman of Manitowoc; mother, Mrs. Frank Stokes of Manitowoc; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Dill of English Lake; and six grandsons.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be sent to the Cancer Fund or to Manitowoc Memorial Hospital.

Miss Camille(sic) Shimek and Mr. Emil Stokes, both popular and well known young people of Branch were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents Tuesday at 11 am, Justice Falge tying the nuptial knot. The bride was attended by the Misses Lydia Beneshek, Elsa Shimek and Tillie Cizek while the Messrs. Hugo
Shimek, Fred Novak and Wenzel Beneshek acted as groomsmen. In the evening, a reception attended by a large number of guests. The young couple will reside one half mile north of Branch where the groom has a fine farm. They have the well
wishes of a large circle of friends.
