CARL J. LAVECK

Carl J. Laveck, age 91, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc,
formerly of Branch, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Shady Lane.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2006, at the First
Reformed United Church of Christ, 3616 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard
Runge will officiate with burial to follow at Branch Evergreen Cemetery, with
military graveside services to be accorded by Otto-Oas VFW Post 659 of Manitowoc.
Carl was born March 10, 1915, in Manitowoc, son of the late Theodore and Mini
Fricke Laveck. He was a 1933 graduate of Lincoln High School and entered the
Army during World War II. Carl married the former Olive A. Kutil on July 15,
1943, in Harrisburg, Pa. They celebrated 61 years of marriage prior to her death
in 2005. He was in the military for four-and-one-half years with two years in the
European Theatre participating in the Normandy Invasion. He was discharged in 1945
as a technical sergeant. Carl was employed by several auto dealerships in
Manitowoc as a mechanic, service manager and salesman. In 1963, he joined the
Francis Creek State Bank as a teller and retired from First National Bank, Francis
Creek, as operations officer in 1979. Carl was a member of First Reformed United
Church of Christ. He was active in the Branch Volunteer Fire Department for many
years and was a 25-year member of Lions International. Carl was also a member of
the Otto-Oas VFW Post 659 of Manitowoc; the Fraternal Order of Eagles; and the
Francis Creek, Whitelaw, and Manitowoc Senior Citizens.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Carl T. (Jane) Laveck, Manitowoc;
one daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl (Dr. Donald) Domrath, Branch; six grandchildren:
Jennifer Laveck of Madison; John Laveck, London, England; Zachary (Heather) Domrath,
Orlando, Fla.; Carrington (Brandon) White, Cincinnati, Ohio; Kate (Patrick) O'Keefe,
Boston, Mass.; Emily Laveck, Chicago, Ill.; niece: Beverly Gilbertson; nephews:
Al and Robert Kutil, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his
wife: Olive; a brother: Earl; sisters: Isabel (Joseph) Kutil and Mabel Laveck; a
sister-in-law: Marjorie Wallsworth-Dethlefson; and a nephew: James Wallsworth.
Relatives and friends may call at the First Reformed United Church of Christ on
Friday, June 16, 2006, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Jens
Family Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Laveck family.
A special thank you to the staff of Shady Lane for their care given to Carl during
his stay there, especially the past several weeks while he was on comfort care.
