NORMAN KARBON

Norman Karbon, age 85, of 5123 Edgewood Lane, Manitowoc, died Thursday, July 13,
2006, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2006, at First
Reformed United Church of Christ. The Rev. Richard Runge will officiate with
burial to follow at Branch Evergreen Cemetery with military graveside rites
accorded by American Legion Drews-Bleser Post 88.
Norman was born June 3, 1921, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late
George and Mattie Knuell Karbon. He was a 1940 graduate of Lincoln High School.
He served as a Tech IV in the 95th Infantry Division Recon Troop in the U.S.
Army in World War II from July 9, 1942, until his honorable discharge on Sept. 18,
1945. He married the former Jeannette M. Dixon on Oct. 23, 1945, in Pottsville, Pa.
She preceded him in death on May 31, 2002.
Norman was a hydraulics salesman with the Dan Krall Co. Norman was a member of
First Reformed United Church of Christ where he served as an usher for many years
and as part of the church building committee. He also was a member and past
commander of AMVETS Post 23 of Manitowoc and American Legion Drews-Bleser Post 88
of Manitowoc. He enjoyed fishing and loved baseball.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law: Jean (Tom) Wondrash, Two Rivers;
Carol Houston, Seattle, Wash; three grandchildren: Scott (Yvonne) Reindl, Pine
Grove; Julia Waschow, Portland, Ore.; Ryan Waschow, Las Vegas, Nev.; four step-
grandchildren: Traci (Ron) Witak; Tammy (Kurt) Wiebensohn; Therese (Mark) Kiley;
Tom Wondrash Jr.; step-great-grandchildren; one brother: Milton ""Micki"" Karbon,
Manitowoc; one sister: Marilyn Karbon, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law and sister-in-
law: Robert (Marilyn) Dixon, Greenfield, Ind.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife: Jeannette; one sister:
Delores Kattreh; two sisters-in-law: Miriam Sukeena and Betty Hoffman; and two
brothers-in-law: Burton Kattreh and Ray Sukeena.
Relatives and friends may call at the Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 S.
8th St., Manitowoc, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and again on Monday at church from
10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m
