Lloyd E. Karbon, age 90, of Manitowoc, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday,
Sept. 2, 2008, at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation.
Lloyd was born on Nov. 8, 1917, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the
late Joseph and Ella (Wachholz) Karbon. His family later moved to their home
farm in the town of Kossuth, and he attended Rockwood School. He became
employed at Sonnenburg Cheese Factory in Cato and later at Pauly Cheese Company
in Manitowoc. Lloyd married Elizabeth Bebow on Jan. 22, 1941, at the Friedens
Evangelical and Reformed Church in Reedsville. He served in the Army Air Force
from May 1945 to July 1946 in the European Theater. He worked various jobs until
he began his employment at Consumer Steel Company, from which he retired in 1984.
Lloyd was a past faithful member of Friedens Church in Reedsville and served in
many capacities. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ of
Manitowoc and life member of the VFW Otto Oas Post 659 of Manitowoc. Lloyd liked
to go deer hunting and fix motors and lawn mowers. He was a volunteer with the
Branch Fire Department for 33 years. He played county league baseball for many
years and was a Little League umpire. Lloyd was a good father to his four sons
and one daughter, and a faithful husband.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife's parents; two brothers and
two sisters-in-law: Chester (Ann) Karbon; Melvin Karbon; and Virginia De Wein;
and six brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Elmer (Ethel) Fokett; Milton
Post; Roman (Ruth) Kletti; Betty Bebow; Earl Jansen; William Bebow; and Leonard
Gadzinski.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at St.
John's United Church of Christ, 1501 Marshall St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard
Runge will officiate, with burial to follow at Branch Evergreen Cemetery.
Military graveside services will be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post 659 of
Manitowoc.
Relatives and friends may call at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of
services at 10:30 a.m.
The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the Karbon family.
A special thank you to all the caregivers and staff of River's Bend Health &
Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care shown to Lloyd the past three
months.
