Lloyd O. Wernecke, 65, of 12528 Rainbow Court, Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 4, 1990, following a courageous battle with cancer at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Rev. Phillip Kenas will officiate with burial at Branch Evergreen Cemetery, Branch.
He was born June 21, 1925 at Newton, son of the late Erwald and Wanda Meyer Wernecke. He attended school at Newtonburg. Mr. Wernecke was employed for the Town of Liberty, Town of Newton and Town of Manitowoc Rapids until his retirement in 1987. He also owned and operated D & L Trucking and Excavating until his illness forced him to retire. He married the former Delores Waack on November 19, 1974 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Manitowoc. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Delores, a son, Randall Wernecke of Newton, a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Charles Bauer of Newton; three step daughters and step sons-in-law, Kathy and John Hardrath of Newton, Karen and Dennis Wernecke of Newton, Karol and John Loberger of Manitowoc; a step son and step daughter-in-law, Leroy and Barb Waack, Jr. of Newton; a sister, Eleanor Rauch of Manitowoc; a special niece and her husband, Audrey and Marvin Laabs of Manitowoc; five grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 5 pm to 9 pm Thursday and at the church on Friday from 9 am until the time of services at 10:30 am. Memorials would be appreciated to Wesley United Methodist Church, St. John's Lutheran School in Newtonburg or Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
